Who we are...
About: Anton graduated with a Major in Literature and Minor in Philosophy in 2005 and finished his Juris Doctor in 2009. While taking up law he was a professor of literature, drama, poetry and composition at his alma mater. He currently divides his time between a micro-finance company, his buffet apartment hotel, a blog where he writes about being a small business owner and Lit React. He was educated, from Grade School to Law School, at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Camille Tay Silos
Heavy: Camry graduated Magna Cum Laude from De La Salle University-Manila with a degree in 2008. Since then, she has joined her family company - Asalus Corporation / IntelliCare - as a Communication Specialist and continues to work there as a member of the Marketing Support and Services Department.
Light: Camry has been a lover of all things Japanese since she was a child and had the opportunity of a lifetime when she was offered a one-year scholarship to study in a university in Tokyo during her second year in De La Salle University-Manila. From that moment on, she learned that inspiration, experiences and life can never be fully captured into words - but what makes it fun is when someone attempts to do so and comes oh-so-close.
Francis Gabriel Concepcion
Heavy: Francis graduated in 2010 from De La Salle University-Manila, Major in Literature. His short story,
The Break-in on Batay Street was published in Philippine Speculative Fiction Volume 6, and his flash fiction short
Reconnection was also published in Anvil's A Treat of 100 Short Stories. He is now working on a comic series entitled
Banyaga launched on November, 2011 at the Indie Komikon as well as on Hawkers Magazine.
Light: Francis considers himself to be somewhat of a jack of all trades. In high school he was part of the soccer varsity team, and also circled around different sports such as basketball and volleyball. He often dabbles around with musical instruments and can play a little bit of the guitar, harmonica, and piano. He is a lover of all types of music, but mostly funk, rock, country, jazz, and pop. Ever since he was a child, he has loved telling stories, whether through toys, comics, or short stories. For him, imagination and creativity are the most important things anyone could ever possess; he believes that anyone could cultivate and develop one's imagination, that it's not restricted to the right-brained.
Heavy: Ms. Pickles graduated cum laude from De La Salle University-Manila with a degree in Literature in 2009. She graduated a few trimesters shy of attaining a Legal Management degree, which she dropped because legalese was not poetic enough for her. She is now working at one of the country's foremost magazine publishing companies as a fashion writer, where her vocabulary mettle is tested daily with the need to come up with synonyms for "chic" and "fashionable."
Light: She takes this Dorothy Parker advice very seriously: "Drink and dance and love and lie,/ Love, the reeling midnight through".
Heavy: Rocky graduated from De La Salle University-Manila with a degree in Literature. He subsequently taught literature in the same university and is currently taking up law there. He was shortlisted for the prose category of the 2nd Philippine Graphic/Fiction Award which is a collaborative effort of the Philippine bookstore Fully Booked and the British author, Neil Gaiman.
Light: Bowties are cool.
Heavy: Micah is currently (as of January 2011) finishing the remnants of her Literature-Business Management double degree at De La Salle University-Manila, while at the same time managing her hand-made keychain manufacturing business, the Keybie Cafe.
Light: She enjoys destressing with a glass of regular Coke.
Michelle Rose Solano
Heavy: After 4 years of adventuring and searching for the great quest through books, Michelle graduated in 2004 with a degree in Literature from the Ateneo de Manila University. She tried living a normal life by teaching English and Literature for 4 years, being a field reporter for a news network for 2 years and an operations manager to a learning institution for 1 year. Unable to deafen the call of the quest, she resigned to become a full-time missionary. She has now been building houses, schools and education programs for the poorest of the country under Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo for 2 years.
Light: Michelle studied Literature because it's the closest thing to becoming a knight errant. To complete the package, she studied fencing (with a foil and a saber) and 14th-century sword fighting (with a bastard sword - yes, A big bastard sword). Her hobbies are picking fights in the name of honor (never dis Batman or Braveheart in front of her) and saving animals in distress (crying doggies break her heart). She wishes people wouldn't stare too much when she's walking around with her swords.
Heavy: Teacher Kitty graduated from Miriam College with a degree in Child Development in Education and minor in Special Education in 2009. She is currently a pre-school teacher at the Multiple Intelligence International School.
Light: I teach a wide variety of subjects ranging from the alphabet, dinosaurs, recycling and the solar system, to folding shirts and playing dodge ball.
Patrick Shane Diaz
Heavy: Patrick Shane Diaz is taking up BS Industrial Engineering at the University of the Philippines - Diliman. He is currently venturing into events management with his cousins.
Light: Patrick is a member of UP Junior Marketing Association, UP Industrial Engineering Club, handling events for them. He enjoys playing football, as he used to play for the UP Fighting Maroons. He spends most of his time reading, watching movies and looking for cheesy lyrics in not so cheesy songs, only to dedicate them to his special someone.
Jose Angelo Singson
Heavy: Jelo graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 2000 with a degree in Social Sciences. He has been working as a Language and Training consultant for a BPO company for 6 years. He is currently studying in the Zion Ministerial Institute to become a pastor.
Light: Servant, teacher, preacher, husband, father, cook, voracious reader, horror/sci-fi/B-movie-afficionado, arnisador, tech-phobe, in that order.
Heavy: Jara Lucero is a Broadcast Communication major from the University of the Philippines - Diliman. She plans to pursue a career along the lines of advertising, marketing or events management.
Light: Jara loves to doodle and color on anything - from paper to used tissue napkin. She believes that music and art are perfect forms of expressing the self and that it doesn't take too much skill to be artistic - it just takes imagination. She used to think a lot like Summer Finn but everything changed thanks to a series of unforgettable days in 2011 and to that one guy that made her change her mind about life and love.
